Surf to Summit Outfitter Back Band Kayak Seat
The outfitter back band is our least expensive kayak seat that we make. If you have a kayak and have never used a back rest than this would be a very affordable introduction to kayak seats to see what a difference basic back support makes in your paddling endeavors. This back band comes without a bottom pad it is designed to provide basic back support which not only makes it a great back fatigue reducer but it is also one of our best seats for kayak surfing. In kayak surfing you want the seat to be flexible enough so you can lean back when weight transfer to the rear is needed but at the same time have the back support available when paddling out or waiting for a set. The back band is built with the same thermo molding technology as most of our other kayak seats so it can withstand the test of time on the water like the other seats. It is built with the same thermoformed technology as is the case in all of our other kayak seats. The seat is compression molded under 60 tons of pressure and baked at 400degrees, thereby permanently bonding the fabric to the foam. This process makes our kayak seats last considerably longer that any cut and sewn kayak seat. The unique design of the Outfitter series utilizes the webbing as somewhat of a support belt that went around the kayaker, eliminating the stress points associated with sewing, through strategically determined die cut channels. This results in encapsulating the webbing at optimum leverage points thus eliminating any potential failure due to sewing blowouts. This lacing, as we call it, helps lock the molded foam face of the kayak seat to the heavy duty PVC plastic reinforcement back. This flexible rear plastic panel, the part that gives the paddler all the structure and support, is sewn with thread that is so thick its called cord, to the face as well.
